On Thursday, the spinner's mother Nargis Aktar surrendered before a Dhaka court in the case filed under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act and pleaded for bail.

"The court set bail on a Tk 5,000-bond until the police files its report," defence counsel M Jewel Ahmed told bdnews24.com.

On Feb 1, a woman who claims to be Sunny's wife filed the case over alleged domestic violence against the mother and son with the Dhaka's Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal.

The court took cognisance of complaint  and ordered the police to investigate the matter.

Police arrested Sunny on Jan 22 after the 21-year-old woman filed a case under the ICT Act on Jan 5 at with Mohammadpur Police Station in Dhaka.

Sunny stands accused of offensive posts containing pictures of the woman on social media.

He was produced before the court the same day, where police were granted a day to interrogate him.

The woman claims she and Sunny met seven years ago. They became involved in a relationship and eventually got married in December 2014, without informing their parents.

The families came to know of their marriage afterwards, but she claimed Sunny kept buying time before he took her with him.

The family of the woman was growing restless and she asked Sunny to either take her, or arrange for dissolution of the marriage.

In June last year, Sunny opened a fake account on Facebook and began posting some of their intimate photos through messenger while threatening her, according to the case details.

Following Sunny's arrest, the woman filed another case accusing him of demanding dowry and a third one alleging domestic violence.

The left-arm bowler, who had played for the national team, is now in jail as he failed to secure bail in the three cases.
