Locals set bus on fire for killing schoolboy in Gopalganj

An angry mob has set a bus on fire after it ran over a six-year-old boy in Gopalganj.

The victim has been identified as 'Siam,' first grader of a local school in Kotaliparha Upazila.

The incident occurred around 11am on Saturday on a local highway.

The bus ran over Siam on the Gopalganj-Kotaliparha-Poisharhat Road leaving him dead on the spot.

"Locals blocked the road and set the bus ablaze. They tried to attack the fire-fighting unit after it reached the spot," said Kotaliparha police OC Kamrul Faruq.

The flames were put out later, he added. 

Traffic on the road was disrupted after the incident.

"We have asked locals to lift the blockade," said OC Faruq.
