Fire ravages at least 150 makeshift garment shops in Tangail

A fire has gutted more than 150 makeshift garment shops in Tangail.

On Tuesday around 9am, the fire erupted at the weekly market run by local traders at Tangail's Korotia.

Md Kofil Uddin, station master of Tangail Fire Service and Civil Defence, said the fire soon ravaged the market.

“Five fire fighting units managed to put out the flames within 30 minutes but the clothes stored inside at least 150 shops were burnt ,” he said.

He estimated the damage caused was worth Tk 10 million.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
