Police said 14-year-old Afif Qaderi was one of twin sons of slain Neo-JMB leader Tanvir Qaderi.

The counterterrorism unit cordoned off a building at Dhaka's Ashkona early on Saturday.

The 16-hour stand-off between police and suspected militants ended with the death of the teenager, who, the police said had refused to surrender.

Responding to police's call to surrender, two women and two children turned themselves over to the law enforcers.

They had told police that three more had remained behind.

Hours later, a woman, accompanied by a 4-year-old girl, came out of the building and detonated an improvised suicide vest.

The woman died immediately and the child is now being treated at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) with splinter injuries.

The teenager holed up in the house, 'Surjavilla', for several hours during the police operation fired on the police before his death.

Police removed his body on Sunday and sent it to the DMCH amid initial reports that he may have exploded a suicide vest.

"Several bullet marks were found on the body. He died of gunshot wounds," DMCH forensic chief Sohel Mahmud told the media on Monday.

He said they did not find splinters injuries or any other wounds caused by explosion on the body.

Mahmud, a DMCH assistant professor, said they have collected samples for DNA test and viscera.
