HC wants lighter school bags in Bangladesh primary schools
The High Court has ruled that primary school students should not be forced to carry school bags that is more than ten percent of their body weight.

It has asked the Primary and Mass Education Ministry to issue a circular to all primary schools, English or vernacular medium, within 30 days to ensure that students are not forced to carry heavy bags.
Resolving a rule issued last year, the High Court bench of justices Moinul Islam Chowdhury and Ashish Ranjan Das issued this order on Wednesday.
The court said the government circular should make clear the punishment to be meted out if this was not observed by the schools.
It also called for setting up a monitoring cell to ensure the order was implemented and also said it should be mentioned in the circular.
