EC sets Dec 15 deadline to become a new voter

The Election Commission has started updating the voter list and anyone born on Jan 1, 1999 or before can now register their name as a new voter by Dec 15, EC sources have said.

“For the next three weeks, the EC will be registering new eligible voters who could not register their names in the voter list during the update last year,” said Election Commission’s Assistant Secretary Roushon Ara.  

“However, this time, volunteers will not go door to door. A person will have to come to the election office and register,” she added. 

During the campaign, existing voters can also update their registered location.

The draft of the updated list will be published on Jan 2, she said.
