Risha murder: chargesheet against Obayed Khan

Police have filed a charge sheet against Obayedul Khan, accusing him of murdering schoolgirl Suraiya Akter Risha.

Risha, a fourteen-old student of Dhaka's Willes Little Flower school, was stabbed on 24 Aug near a foot overbridge not far from her school at Kakrail.

She succumbed to her injuries three days later at the Dhaka Medical College & Hospital.

Obayedul, who worked in a tailor shop in an Elephant Road Mall in Dhaka, has been accused by Risha's family of ‘harassing’ the schoolgirl over the phone for several months.

Risha’s mother filed a case naming Obayedul after the attack.

Obayedul was arrested two days later on Aug 31 from Sonaray Bazar in Nilphamari. He confessed to Risha’s murder in a deposition on Sep 5. 

Ramna Police Station OC submitted the chargesheet in the Risha murder case in the court of Dhaka's Chief Metropolitan Magistrate on Monday.

Prosecution's Senior Assistant Commissioner Mirashuddin told bdnews24.com that 26 people have been named as witnesses in the case.

On Nov 27 Metropolitan Magistrate Satyabrata Sikdar will decide on whether to take the case into consideration
