Voting in 375 union councils across Bangladesh began at 8am and ended at 4pm on Monday, said Election Commission Deputy Secretary Farhad Ahmad Khan.

Voting in more than 300 union councils have been held after a stay due to irregularities or due to by-elections for vacant posts or to break the tie.

EC Secretary Muhammad Abdullah had termed the voting in the former 22 enclaves a 'milestone' on Sunday.

Implementation of a land swap deal with India saw the addition of 111 enclaves to the map of Bangladesh, which came into effect from Aug 1 last year.

Similarly, 52 enclaves were handed over to India.

Some 35,535 people of those 111 enclaves have been granted Bangladeshi citizenship as part of the deal.

On Sep 4 this year, a list of over 10,500 voters from those former enclaves was released.
