Shayestaganj Junction Station Master Md Moazzul Haq said the services resumed around 3:15pm on Thursday.

He said two carriages of the Dhaka-bound train carrying cement had gone off the rails near the Shahjibazar Railway Station at Madhabpur around 5:15am, heavily damaging the tracks over a long stretch.

The derailed carriages were removed soon after, but most of the 10 hours were spent in repairing the tracks, Haq said.

Dhaka-bound trains Kalni Express and Jayantika Express, which were stranded during that time, left for their destination once the tracks had been repaired, he added.
