An academic meeting of the department took the decision on Thursday, the department's Chairman Pradeep Kumar Pandey said in a statement.

Tanvir had proposed to withdraw himself from all activities in the department following the allegation that he had ‘instigated the suicide' of Joly, who was also an associate professor of the department.
She was found dead in her room, locked from inside, at the teacher quarters with black spots, most likely caused by foam and blood, on her mouth on Sep 9.
A 'suicide note' found in the room said "no-one is responsible for my death", but made some accusations against Tanvir.
“The father, who can put a knife on his son’s throat, can also kill him or force him to die anytime,” it said.
Police said the note's handwriting matched Joly's writing style. Forensic doctors suspected poison had caused the death.
Joly's brother had brought charges of suicide having been instigated in a case filed over the death but had not named anyone.
