Barisal City Corporation’s Panel Mayor KM Shahidullah has been suspended after a court accepted charges in a criminal case against him.

The corporation’s administrative officer Asma Begum Rumi said they received the LGRD ministry order to this end on Sunday.
The letter was signed by the ministry’s City Corporation-1 wing’s Deputy Secretary Khalil Ahmed.
About his suspension, Shahidullah, also the councillor of Ward No. 12, told bdnews24.com: “I am yet to receive the copy of such ministry order.”
RAB arrested the vice-chairman of the BNP’s Barisal metropolitan unit at his home at Alekanda on the night of Jan 5 this year.
The elite police unit later that night handed him to Kotwali police with a gun and three rounds of bullets.
RAB-8 Deputy Assistant Director Sikdar Ashrafur Rahman started the case against Shahidullah the same night.
Kotwali police’s outgoing OC Sakhawat Hossain had submitted the chargesheet in court against Shahidullah.
