Customs seize 23kg gold in Dhaka airport

Customs officers have seized 23 kilograms gold from a passenger arriving from Singapore at Dhaka’s Shahjalal International Airport.

Dhaka Customs House Commissioner Lutfor Rahman said the passenger, Ataur Rahman, posed as a patient on a wheelchair.

Ataur came to Dhaka on the SQ446 flight of Singapore Airlines at 10:30pm on Wednesday, he said.

He was carrying the gold in bars and ornaments in his belt and other parts of his body, Lutfor said.

The estimated market value of the seized gold is around Tk 120 million, he added.
