A delegation of the religious minority community met the prime minister at the Ganabhaban on Monday to extend their greetings on the festival.

"There will be conspiracies and many other things. It will be possible to tackle them if we remain united," she said in the meeting.

With the recent attacks on priests by suspected Islamist militants in the background, the prime minister said the people from all religions will stay in Bangladesh together with harmony and sympathy for each other.

She said militancy has no religion and her government will never allow it.

Recalling the attacks on Hindus, she said these were carried out in a planned manner to create strife.

Ramakrishna Mission Math Principal Swami Dhrubeshananda Mohadeb, Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad President Jayanta Sen, Janmashtami Udjapan Parishad President Debashish Palit, among others, were in the delegation.
