A fleet each of special, Gulshan-only air-conditioned buses and rickshaws with designated colours will soon be pressed into service.

The diplomatic enclave would also be brought under CCTV coverage.

All unauthorised movement will be out of bounds for the Banani-Baridhara area.

The July 1 attack on a Gulshan cafe left 22 people, including 17 foreigners, three Bangladeshis and 2 police personnel dead, prompting the DMP to brace for additional security measures.

Thirty AC buses will be lunched within this week, the commissioner said.

He also said police have arrested two to three of the 32 rescued people from the attack site on suspicion of them having a hand in the deadly siege.

An investigation was ongoing in the Gulshan area and some vital leads had been gathered.

Some arrests had also been made, Miah said, adding that action would be taken only after substantial evidence was gathered.

“Just as no guilty would be spared, no innocent would be harassed,” he asserted.
