Police charge eight in court over 2015 ISKON temple bombing in Bangladesh

Police have formally charged eight suspected terrorists in court in the 2015 ISKON temple bombing that had several injured in Kaharol Upazila in Dinajpur district.

Dinajpur Senior Judicial Magistrate Nazmul Hussain on Monday accepted the chargesheet and scheduled the next hearing for July 24.

Investigating officer and Detective Branch Sub-Inspector Bazlur Rashid filed the chargesheet on June 30, said Court Police Inspector Abu sayed.

Bazlur told bdnews24.com that among the eight chargesheeted individuals, “JMB members” Shariful Islam alias Denis, Mosabbirul Alam Khondokar, Sarwar Babu and Abdur Rahman Pintu are lodged in the district jail.

“Rajibul Islam alias Bandhon, Abdul Khalik alias Khalid, Rajib alias Sujon alias Jakir and Babar alias Samrat Babar are absconding,” he said.

On Dec 10, 2015, miscreants fired from their guns and charged hand bombs in an attack on the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKON) temple.

Prayer services were on at the temple during the 8pm attack that had left several people injured.

Locals chased and caught “JMB members” Shariful Islam alias Denis and Mosabbirul Alam and handed them over to police.
