Jahidul was arrested after the bomb attack on police personnel and a gunfight between law enforcers and the attackers on July 7 morning. The attack was launched moments before the main Eid prayers at the Sholakia Eidgah ground.

Jahidul and another youth named Shafiul Islam, who also goes by the aliases Shariful Islam, Saiful Islam, Abu Mokaddel, ‘Don’ and ‘Sohan’, were nabbed by police and RAB later.

Shafiul hails from Dinajpur’s Ghorhaghat and Jahidul from Kishoreganj’s Paschim Tarapasha.

Three days after the attack, Pakundia police Inspector Md Shamsuddin lodged an anti-terrorism case accusing the two, along with several other unidentified persons, at Kishoreganj Model Police Station.

Shamsudin was in-charge of the check-post that was attacked.
