Detective Branch Assistant Commissioner Md Kamruzzaman told reporters on Tuesday afternoon that they had petitioned for a 10-day remand for Ehteshamul Haque Bhola’ and ‘Monir’.

Earlier, police said they had arrested Bhola and Monir with firearms on Tuesday morning.

According to Kamruzzaman, police appealed to Metropolitan Magistrate Nazmul Hossain’s court for Bhola’s remand and to Metropolitan Magistrate Naorin Akter Kakon’s court for remand for the two.

The courts sent them to prison keeping the hearing pending.

A police officer, asking not to be named, told bdnews24.com that Bhola had supplied the firearms used in Mitu’s murder, but they were not yet certain if he knew about the murder plan.

Mitu was hacked with sharp weapons and shot in the head while she was on her way to drop her son at a bus stop for school on Jun 5.

The latest arrests come after questioning her husband and round-the-clock police deployment at her father’s home.

On Sunday, police claimed arresting two other suspects — Motalab Mia Wasim and Anwar Hossain – and said they had‘confessed’ to their involvement in the murder in statements recorded at a Chittagong court.
