The charge-sheet names eight people including one who was later killed in a ‘shootout’ with the Rapid Action Battalion.

The eight others are village council chief Abdul Ali Bagal, his two sons Jewel Miah and Rubel Miah, Arju Miah, ‘Shahed’, Ustar Miah, Babul Miah and ‘Billal’.

All but Ustar Miah, Babul Miah and ‘Billal’ are currently under detention.

Judge Kiron Shankar Halder of the district Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal rejected the bail petitions of detained five and issued arrest warrants for the three on the run.

Special Public Prosecutor Abul Hasem Molla, who is handling the case, said the court fixed July 26 as the next hearing date.

On Feb 12, four boys, Zakaria Ahmed Shubho, 8, Tajel Mia, 10, Monir Mia, 7, and Ismail Hussain, 10, went missing from a field where they had gone to play in Sundratiki village.

Police on Apr 5 pressed charges against nine people in court for their alleged involvement in the killing.

The court, however, did not accept the charge-sheet as the main case documents had not been furnished.

One of the accused, Bachuchu Mia, was shot dead in an early morning ‘shootout’ with RAB on Feb 25.

Four accused, including Jewel Miah and Rubel Miah, gave confessional statements.
