"The accident occurred when the car was trying to cross a railway crossing at Hoibotpur Union’s Manikdihi village around 11:30am on Thursday," Government Railway Police’s Sub-Inspector Idris Ali said.

He identified the victims as Rezaul Kabir Razu, 38, Joya Rani Das, 55, her grandson ‘Chayan’, 10, and the car’s driver ‘Hakim’, 32.

The two other injured were Joya’s daughter ‘Dipika’ and grandson ‘Badhon’.

SI Ali said that Joya died on spot after the car was hit by the train, while five others were seriously injured.
“Three of them were declared dead by doctors when locals rushed them to Jessore Medical College Hospital,” he added.
Injured Dipika told reporters that they were on their way to Tirerhaat from Keshobpur when the accident took place at Manikdihi.
‘Abdar’, a resident of that area, said the level crossing that the car was passing through had no gate.
