The first female vice-chancellor of Bangladesh’s top engineering university, BUET, died of cancer early Tuesday morning in Bangkok General Hospital. She was 66.
The Thai Airways Flight TG -321 carrying her remains will reach Dhaka at 12:30pm, the Bangladesh embassy in Bangkok said.
The mission officials there were expediting the process of sending the remains “so that the Namaz-e-Janaza can be held at BUET after Asar prayers.”
Prof Ekram’s family will also be on the plane, the embassy said.
