War crimes charges levelled against six persons from Netrokona

The war crimes tribunal prosecutors have levelled seven specific charges against six persons for atrocities committed in Netrokona during the 1971 war.

Prosecutors Mokhlesur Rahman Badal and Sabina Yasmin Khan submitted the chargesheet to the International Crimes Tribunal on Sunday.

The court has fixed Jun 12 to hear the matter, Prosecutor Badal told bdnews24.com.

The six, who have been accused for crime against humanity, are Sheikh Md Abdul Mazid alias Mazid Maulana, 66, Md Abdul Khalek Talukder, 67, Md Kabir Khan, 70, Abdur Rahman, 70, Abdus Salam Beg, 68 and Nuruddin alias Raddin, 70.

Rahman, who was arrested last August, was produced before the court on Sunday. The others are absconding.

Charges of murder and genocide, rape, abduction and torture, arson and loot have been levelled against them.
