We are Nizami: Pakistan Jamaat protests their war-criminal comrade’s execution by Bangladesh

Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan has protested against the execution of Motiur Rahman Nizami b Bangladesh for genocide in 1971 and posted several pictures with the hashtag #WeAreNizami.

Nizami was executed early on Wednesday for the carnage he unleashed on Bengalis as the commander of Al-Badr militia.
 
The Pakistan Jamaat replaced the party’s Facebook profile and cover pictures with Nizami's photos soon after the execution.  
 
The Pakistan foreign ministry also issued a statement while the Parliament passed a “unanimous resolution” condemning the execution.
 
The Jamaat in Bangladesh was the branch of Pakistan Jamaat in 1971 when it collaborated with the Pakistan Army to thwart Bangladesh’s independence.
 
Nizami was the current chief of the party.
 
Islamabad has been reacting to the war crimes trials ever since the process began in 2009.
 
After the Supreme Court’s dismissal of Nizami’s review plea, Islamabad, on May 6, said they had noted the verdict with “deep concern and anguish”.
 
On Wednesday, Pakistan once again issued a statement observing that “his only sin was upholding the constitution and laws of Pakistan”.
 
Bangladesh’s foreign ministry had earlier protested those statements by summoning Pakistan’s High Commissioner in Dhaka Shuja Alam.
