Jessore war crimes accused Lutfor Rahman dies in DMCH

A 1971 war crimes accused has died while undergoing treatment at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Lutfor Rahman Morhol, 75, passed away around 8:30am on Friday, said Dhaka Central Jail’s Senior Superintendent Md Jahangir Kabir.
 
Morhol was arrested in September last year in Porochakra village, in Jessore’s Keshobpur, in an war crimes case.
 
He was admitted to the DMCH on Apr 4 for treatment, Kabir said.
 
The International Crimes Tribunal, on Sep 8 last year, had taken cognisance of the charges of crimes against humanity, committed during Bangladesh’s Liberation War, levelled against nine people including Morhol.
 
The charges included murder, abduction, rape and arson.
