Thirty six-year-old Md Jamil Hossain’s body, with its throat slit and wrapped in plastic sheet, was founder under the bed.

Police said that initial investigations suggested he was murdered over his wife’s ‘affair’.

Three people, including the wife Mousumi Akter, have been held over the killing at Old Dhaka’s Chakbazar, said local police station’s Inspector Md Hafizur Rahman.

He told bdnews24.com that the victim’s sister and niece filed a complaint the police on Monday evening that Jamil has been missing since the morning.

“They had said that Jamil’s wife told them that he headed for his shop in morning from his home. But his employees confirmed that he never reached the shop.”

The police officer said that they brought in the wife around 10pm on Tuesday to the police station.

“We questioned her for a couple of hours. Her conflicting statements aroused suspicion when we took her home.

“At first, she said that the keys were lost, but later produced them.”

Inspector Rahman said Jamil’s body wrapped in a plastic sheet was found under a bed.

“After the body was found, Mousumi (the wife) said that two men who she identified as Aslam and Al Amin murdered her husband on Sunday night.

“She claims that the men threatened to kill her son, if anyone was informed,” he said.

Aslam and Al Amin were arrested early on Tuesday from Chakbazar. “Aslam works at a shop in Chakbazar. Mousumi admitted to having an affair with him.”
