In a notice, the religious affairs ministry has said the registration process will run through to May 26.

According to the notice, those who wish to perform Hajj under the private management will have to deposit Tk 126,690 to the approved bank through their agencies. Thereafter the pilgrim ID will be issued.

Pre-registration under private arrangements has been completed within a week of the beginning of the process on Mar 23.

Pre-registration of those who are going to perform Hajj under government management is still ongoing.

According to a quota fixed by Saudi Arabia, 91,758 people will have the opportunity to perform Hajj under private management while 10,000 others will get that privilege under the government management.

Officials of the religious affairs ministry said in the next year the ministry would give priority to those who will not get the opportunity to perform Hajj even after pre-registration this year.

This year as per the decision of the Cabinet, the maximum cost for performing Hajj under the government management has been fixed at Tk 360,000 and minimum at Tk 304,000.

And under private management, the basic cost has been fixed at Tk 155,441. The agencies will finalise the packages after adding the other major costs.

This year the Hajj, the biggest congregation of Muslims, is supposed to take place on Sep 12, depending on the moon-sighting.
