Police detained Hasib Rabbi, who is in his early 20s, from Tracy, California on Wednesday night.

He is a suspect in the murder of his parents Golam and Shamima Rabbi.

Friends who went to check on the Rabbis on Sunday after they had not heard from the couple for many days found them murdered in their home.

A note was found that read, "Sorry my first kill was clumsy."

Police also found a longer note on the wall that read, "I can't be like you, telling a lie. I can't love someone without telling them."

This note led police to the conjecture that the couple were murdered by someone they knew.

After speaking to their younger son who is not a suspect, police learnt that the elder son had been out of reach.

Finally, they arrested the elder son on Wednesday night.

The Rabbis were members of the Evergreen Islamic Center and were described as humble, peaceful people by friends.

Golam was an engineer and Shamima an accountant. The Bangladeshi couple had migrated to the US years ago and had managed to make a good life in the US.
