They went looking for the couple on Sunday after they had not heard from the duo for a few days.
The Rabbis had evidently been shot dead.
Golam was an engineer and his wife an accountant.
Both were members of Evergreen Islamic Center, and were described as humble, polite and peaceful people by friends and neighbours.
"The Rabbis had left Bangladesh years ago and had cultivated a nice life in the United States," ABC News quoted their friends as saying.
Their sons, aged 17 and 21, were not at home at the time of the murder, friends said.

On Sunday, friends went to check up on the Rabbis after the couple were not seen for quite a few days.
When they reached their home, some of them entered the house finding the door open.
Once in, the ABC News said, they were greeted by the macabre sight of the Rabbis lying dead in a pool of blood on the hardwood floor.
