“Our efforts are to further expand this cooperation to include new vistas of cooperation and also to reintegrate the economies of the region, particularly with India’s North East”,” he said when two Bangladeshi ministers called on him on Tuesday.
According to a statement, Mukherjee termed the year 2015 a “historic year” in India-Bangladesh relations as it witnessed implementation of the Land Boundary Agreement.
Minister for Health Mohammed Nasim and Minister for Environment and Forests Anwar Hossain Manju called on Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.
They reciprocated the Indian President’s sentiments, and said the relations had never been “as good as they are today”.
“There is a huge mindset change in both countries and the younger generation is now in the forefront, which bodes well for the future,” they said.
