Crude bomb blast at Lakhsmipur polling centre leaves six injured

A crude bomb was thrown on a voting centre in Lakhsmipur leaving six people injured.

Police have detained three persons over the bombing at district's at Kamalnagar Upazila.

The explosion took place after supporters of two rival candidates were engaged in a verbal duel at the voting centre in Torabganj High School.

Presiding Officer Khagendra Chandra Nath said supporters of two member candidates entered the premises as soon as the polls started at 8am.

“A crude bomb was exploded and six were injured. Security forces have detained three people,” he said.

In the first phase of the Union Parishad (UP) polls, voting is being held at 717 union councils in 36 districts.
