Sreemangal Railway Station’s Assistant Master Md Shakhawat told bdnews24.com the train link resumed after the damaged tracks had been repaired.

Parbatipur Commuter was going uphill with cargo from Fenchuganj Fertiliser Factory, while the coupling of two coaches snapped at around 3:30pm on Sunday, he earlier told reporters.

The detached bogies then went downhill for three kilometres, damaging one kilometre portion of the tracks, Shakhawat added.

According to Sreemangal’s PWD (Rail) official Ali Azam, trains carrying oil tankers and fertiliser cargos often face difficulties to cross the hillocks of Lawachharha.

Sylhet-bound Paharika Express and Dhaka-bound Parabat Express were stuck at two local stations after the accident.
