The visit is in appreciation of Bangladesh’s continuous support to the Palestinian cause, says the Palestinian embassy in Dhaka.

The President will arrive at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airportat about 12.30 am on Sunday. Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali will receive him at the airport.

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid, and all the Arab Heads of Mission in Dhaka will also be present to greet him.

The embassy said the delegation would have a meeting with the foreign minister for “about an hour or more” at the Airport VVIP Lounge.

It said, in a statement, that in view of their excellent relations, the government of Palestine was always keen to keep Bangladesh informed of the developments in the Palestinian situation and especially in the Holy city of Jerusalem.

Bangladesh has consistently backed Palestine and the demand of the Palestinian people to an independent and viable state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Dhaka also condemns the Israeli occupation, demanding Palestine’s “full membership” of the UN.

The embassy said, during the one-hour meeting, the most recent developments concerning Jerusalem, in particular, would be discussed along with the ongoing Israeli ‘persevering policy’, which, it said, had intensified since Sep 2015.

As a result, over 170 Palestinian women, youth and children were killed, the embassy said.

Other issues of mutual interest would also be discussed.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Riad al Malki, presidential spokesperson Nabil Abu Rodini, Special Advisor of Diplomatic Affairs Majdi al Khalidi, Special Economic Advisor Mustafa Abu al Rob and Ambassador of the state of Palestine in Jordan Attallah Khairi will accompany the president.

Charge d’Affair of the embassy of the state of Palestine in Dhaka Yousef SY Ramadan will also be present as a part of the president's delegation.

The embassy said the president was on a tour of ‘three’ Asian countries.
