The operations were suspended around 3am on Sunday to prevent possible accidents in the thick fog, said Shafiqul Islam, manager of Daulatdia Ferry Terminal of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC).

The ferry services resumed around 8:30am after the fog cleared, according to him.

As many as 300 vehicles were stuck at the terminal due to the temporary suspension of ferry operations, the BIWTC official told bdnews24.com.

The disruptions in ferry and launch services on different river routes, including Paturia-Daultadia and Shimulia-Kawrakandi, is a regular feature during the winter months, thanks to the foggy mornings.
