The incident occurred around 5am on Monday, a family member told bdnews24.com. The flat is on the first floor of a seven-storied building.

One of the sisters, Poly Aktar, 25, had been admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said the hospital police outpost's Inspector Mozammel Haque.

He said the two other sisters, Nahid Aktar, 30, and Roji Aktar, 20, were discharged after being administered first-aid for their wounds.

Their brother Shahed Ali said the robbers, after entering their home, had tried to attack him first. They pounced on his sisters when they screamed for help and tried to protect him.

He also said that his family had no enmity with anyone.
