Parliament passes 11 bills before ending eighth session

The eighth session of the 10th parliament has ended after 12 business days since it started on Nov 8.

Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury prorogued the session on Monday night by reading out the order of the president.
 
According to the Parliament Secretariat, 11 bills were passed in the House during this session.
 
A total of 421 notices under Rule 71 of the Rules of the Procedure were received and 18 of them were accepted and eight notices were discussed.
 
Also, 105 notices under Rule 71 (a) of the Rules of Procedure were discussed.
 
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina received 126 questions and she responded to 44 of them.
 
As many as of 2,595 questions were submitted for ministers and state ministers. A total of 1,749 of them including supplementary questions were answered.
 
The eighth session saw the passage of four bills to amend laws in order to hold polls to municipalities, Union Parishads, Upazilas and city corporations on political party lines.
