Prime Minister returns home after attending UN General Assembly

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has returned to Bangladesh after an 11-day visit to the US to attend the United Nations General Assembly.

She left New York on Thursday for London and boarded a Biman Bangladesh flight from there.

That landed in Sylhet at 11.15 am. Later the aircraft carrying Hasina landed at Dhaka’s Shahjalal International Airport around 1:15pm.

Meanwhile, the Awami League has organised a reception for Hasina in the capital on her getting the UN environment prize and ITU award.

Leaders and activists of the party have gathered on both sides of the street from Shahjalal International Airport to Ganabhaban on Saturday to greet her.

Leaders and activists from Awami League’s partners in the ruling coalition have also joined the reception.

The prime minister received the Sustainable Development Award from the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in New York on Sep 26.

She received the Champions of the Earth award under Policy Leadership category from the UN on the following day.
