OC of the GRP Police Station Abdul Ahad said the incident occurred at around 11am on Monday at Mymensingh Railway Station.

The police official said Sarkar slipped and fell on the tracks while trying to board a moving train.

Giving details of the incident, Ahad said before the arrival of the Dhaka-bound train, which the education ministry official was supposed to board, Sarkar went to a toilet at the railway station.

But by the time he came out, the train after its arrival already started departing, so he rushed to get into the moving train.

Somehow, he slipped and fell on the tracks.

After he was taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, the doctors declared him dead.
“His left leg was severed by the train. He had also received injuries in his right leg and head,” the OC said.
PRO of the ministry Rabindranath Roy said Sarkar was a director at the Directorate of Primary and Mass Education.
After hearing the incident, deputy commissioner and other officials rushed to the spot and identified the body, the OC said.
