Woman murdered by her brother in Dhaka
A 50-year-old woman has been murdered by her brother following a dispute over money she had earlier lent him.

The incident happened around 9am on Wednesday at Bagdash Lane in the capital’s Bangshal, said police’s Senior Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Ahaduzzaman Mia.
The victim, Asma Akter, is the wife of Haji Jahangir Hossain. Police are looking for Akter’s 35-year-old brother Akbar Hossain.
No one except the domestic help ‘Mahi’ was at Akter’s home when the incident happened, said the police official.
Quoting relatives, Mia said, “An argument broke out between the siblings on Wednesday morning over the money she lent him.
“Akbar (Hossain) strangled his sister and she fell down during the scuffle. Akbar fled after the household worker screamed for help.”
Neighbours rushed Akter to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where the doctors declared her dead.
