2 die as autorickshaw falls into roadside drain in Chittagong

Two people have died after an autorickshaw fell into an overflowing roadside drain in Chittagong’s Agrabad, police say.

The deceased were autorickshaw driver and passenger.

The passenger has been identified as Mohammad Firoz, 55, an employee at a C&F company but the driver could not be identified.

OC Nurul Alam Talukder of Doublemuring police station said the autorickshaw was going to Agrabad on Friday morning.

“It fell into the drain while trying to clear the way for another autorickshaw,” he said.

“The autorickshaw driver could not notice the drain as it was overflowing after days of incessant rain,” OC Talukder added.

They were rushed to Agrabad Mother and Child Care Hospital where doctors declared them dead.
