Styled ‘Art Weekend’, this is a private initiative by the ambassadors of Brazil, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, and Switzerland.

They would open their residences to invited guests on Friday and Saturday from 2pm to 8pm.

The embassies say this is aimed at bringing together photographers, expats and local art lovers on a single platform “to appreciate and experience the beauty and splendour of photographic pictures and painted art of local talents”.
German ambassador Thomas Prinz told a group of journalists at his residence on Thursday that this would be the first of its kind joint initiative.
He said he and his Norwegian colleague, ambassador Merete Lundemo, had first planned this art weekend, and the other three embassies joined them later.
The ambassador said they would showcase those photographs and paintings that bring out “the true essence of life in Bangladesh”.
His house will exhibit the works of a group of amateur photographers. The photographs, collected from Drik’s ‘Bangladesh: See from within’ portray the daily life and natural beauty of Bangladesh.
“The art weekend highlights the spirit and passion of people of Bangladesh from various strata of life,” the ambassador said.
The Norwegian ambassador told journalists that the effort was “to best use our residence and promote Bangladesh”.
Paintings of ‘Rokeya Sultana & her Students’ will be displayed at her residence.
The works of ‘Mahbubur Rahman, Tayeba Begum Lipi & Others’ would be displayed at the Brazilian ambassador’s residence, while the Dutch ambassador will host the works of Vinita Karim in his house.
The Swiss ambassador will display photographs by Abir Abdullah.
