Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Deputy Commissioner (Media) Muntasirul Islam said the petitions were submitted on Sunday.

Rony is in custody on charge of killing two persons at Dhaka’s Eskaton.

Islam, however, could not give any details on the type of the firearms.

Auto-rickshaw driver Yakub Ali and rickshaw-puller Abdul Hakim were killed in a random firing from a black SUV around 1:45am on Apr 14, according to police.

Rony is said to have fired on them while ‘on drugs’.

The Detective Branch arrested Rony and the vehicle’s driver Imran Fakir on May 31 for their suspected involvement in the killings.

They also seized Rony’s pistol used in the firing.

Police later said ballistic tests on the pistol clearly proved that the two people were hit by bullets fired from it.

The MP’s son is now in jail following three rounds of interrogation on remand.
