Four more bodies have been pulled out of the Meghna River in Narsinghdi hiking the death toll in Thursday’s boat capsize to seven.

Narsinghdi’s river police outpost Sub-Inspector Md Anwar Hossain said, “Fire service divers on Friday morning pulled out the bodies of a women and another two children from inside the hull of the boat.”

Bodies of three other children were recovered on Thursday making the total death toll seven for the incidents.

The engine-run boat was caught in strong wind mid-river when it was travelling to Bagargot from Sadar Upazila’s Puranchar Bazar on Thursday afternoon.

Survivors say there were about 70 passengers on board. Most reportedly managed to swim ashore.

Fire service divers had to abandon their rescue drive later in the night due to heavy waves and resumed operations from the morning.

Hossain also said that no one else were missing and that the divers were trying to pull up the boat to the river bank.
