Trader murdered inside Dinajpur hotel room

A trader has been killed when his throat was slit inside his room in a hotel in Dinajpur’s Parbatipur Upazila early on Tuesday.

Parbatipur model police station’s OC Mahmudul Hasan said the incident happened past midnight on Tuesday at the Rajanigandha Residential hotel on the second floor of a commercial building on Parbatipur’s Shaheed Minar road.

Police have detained five suspects for interrogation the next morning.

The deceased, Mohammad Ali, 45, hails from Shibganj Upazila of Bogra.

According to the hotel registrar, Ali checked into the hotel recently , identifying himself as a trader of ballpoint pens.

Quoting the hotel staff, the OC told bdnews24.com that around 1am, the hotel staff heard someone groaning in Ali’s room and informed the police immediately.

“Police took him to the Upazila Healthcare Centre. From there he was transferred to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital where he had a surgery.

However, around 4am on Tuesday Ali succumbed to his injuries.”

Police raided some areas near the hotel and detained five people for interrogation. None of them are linked to the hotel, the OC said.

Police are not sharing details about those detained since investigation is on.
