Additional District and Sessions Judge Zahirul Kabi on Monday found Emdadul Haque, 24, Ziaul Haque, 23, Anisur Rahman, 22 and Mir Jahan, 25, guilty of the crime and ordered that they be hanged.

Court police Inspector Shahid Shukrana, citing records, said the four stopped Madhupur’s poultry trader Abdur Razzak Fakir on his way home on Oct 15, 2008.

They hacked him to death with machetes and made off with nearly Tk 15,000.

Razzak’s elder brother Hazrat Ali Fakir filed a case over the incident.

The convicts were present in the dock during the sentencing.
