“It will be gradually be introduced in other classes, too,” Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said on Sunday at a programme at the National Academy for Educational Management (NAEM).

A ministry statement said information technology was being emphasised to make subjects easily comprehensible, interesting, and available.

The minister said the curriculum had been revised after a gap of 17 years, but added that was not enough, stressing students had to be familiarised with changes.

“Books will have to be made more colourful and attractive. We have taken steps to introduce interactive digital versions alongside traditional books in all classes.”

In the closing ceremony of a two-day workshop organised by Teaching Quality Improvement project, the minister said digital books would be developed with educationalists of teachers training colleges aided by top information communication professionals in the country.

“Each book will have videos alongside meanings of words, explanations, animations and colourful images to help students easily understand complicated terms, sentences and topics.”

Education Secretary Nazrul Islam Khan said the interactive digital versions of all sixth-grade books would be ready by September.
