They staged protest, under the banner of Anwara-Karnaphuli Janasartha Sangram Parishad, at six entrances to the export processing zone on Monday.

Leader of the agitators Didrul Alam, also the chairman of Bara Uthan Union Council in Chittagong, told bdnews24.comthat private KEPZ authorities were grabbing land of schools and graveyards and cutting hills ‘in the name of land acquisition’.

He said as per an agreement, KPEZ authorities were supposed to develop the export processing zone on 2,469 acres of land without cutting hills and hillocks.

“But the (KEPZ) authorities cut hills and hillocks though they did not develop the industrial zone in past 20 years or so,” he added.
Alam announced their agitations would continue until Nasir was removed.
Anwara Upazila Awami League General Secretary Abdul Mannan alleged KEPZ authorities had demolished its foundation stone laid by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in 1997 and grabbed land of Deyan Government Primary School.
The agitators said the KEPZ authorities had also dismissed 75 workers.
