The deceased Redowan Hossain Ledu (22) was the son of Abdul Matlub of Western Maijdi in Noakhali, according to local Sudharam police station

OC Anwar Hossain said that Redowan had a spat with one 'Rubel' over a mobile phone theft some time ago.

"On Sunday night, Redowan opposed Rubel who was gambling with a few others. Rubel and his friends smashed Redowan's head with bricks and left him seriously injured."

Police went and recovered Redowan around 12 at midnight and took him to Noakhali Sadar Hospital where he was declared dead.

His body is in the hospital's morgue for autopsy.

OC Hossain said Rubel is absconding.

Local Juba League joint convenor Ahasan Habib claimed Redowan, a construction worker, was a member of the youth affiliate of the Awami league.
