The procession of around five thousands students led by the Bangladesh Technical Education Teachers' Federation (BTETF) went to the office around 12:30am from the capital's Gulshan-2 intersection.

They handed a memorandum to a representative of the BNP chief's office.

"The students cannot to go the exam halls. People are being burnt death in bomb attack. The nation's future is at the brink of ruining," said BTETF President Abdus Sattar.

He demanded immediate withdrawal of shutdowns and blockade.

Organisers said the march was in protest of the disruption of studies due to the ongoing political situation.

Mohammadpur Shyamoli Ideal Polytechnic Institute's (MSIPI) Instructor Sheikh Morshed said:"The current political situation is hampering the students' education. Their future is uncertain. We have hit the streets in protest that," he told bdnews24.com.

MSIPI second-year student Md Sharif said that his year final exams were supposed to end on Jan 26, which has been now shifted to Feb 8. "Now we hear there might be a strike on that day too. What will we do now?"

Civil engineering student Md Sohel of the same institute said: "This non-stop blockade and shutdown has left students in a miserable condition. We have come here to press our demand so that politicians do not cause us uncertainty."

An indefinite transport blockade is being enforced by the BNP-led alliance since Jan 5. It has been also calling for shutdowns in between.

Reports of bomb attack and arson on vehicles are coming in everyday from across Bangladesh. Already more than 50 deaths have been reported.

Meanwhile, the education ministry had to reschedule some SSC and equivalent exams due to the situation.

About 1.5 million students will take this year's exam, which is expected to start on Friday according to the new schedule.
