An affiliate of bdnews24.com - Bangladesh's first internet newspaper - bpl launched six books on Monday.

They are available at the bpl stall, which has a distinctly European design and stands next to a pond inside the Bangla Academy complex.

Four of the books on offer are new - 'Samprodayikota O Dhormo Niropekkhota' (Communalism and Secularism), a collection of essays by Professor Anisuzzaman, ‘Jokhon Kritodas’, a memoir of 1971 by Nazim Mahmud, ‘Ashakorpur', a political satire by Mahbub Azad, and 'Mukh Dhakini Biggapone', a book by Iqbal Karim Hasnur on his travels in Cuba.

bpl has also brought out reprints of two rare publishers of Bangla literature - Rabindranath Mitra's 'Manmoyee Girls School' and Priyanath Mukhopadhyay's 'Parosik Golpo' (Persian Tales).
bpl Executive Director Aninda Rahman told bdnews24.com: "We had planned to begin our journey at the book fair. We hope to unveil at least 35 books this time."
He said bpl would launch brand new books every week of the fair.
Asked about their speciality that sets bpl apart from other publishers, Rahman said, "Our books are different in size and design from books being currently published in Bangladesh. The paper we are using is also different."
"Our main aim is to create a new taste for books among readers while keeping content diversity and market demand in mind," he added.
