The missing person has been identified as Rahima Khatun Tuni, 30, a resident of Mohishakura village of Sharsha Upazila in Jessore.

Sharsha Police’s SI Amirul Islam said after returning from Jordan she was last located at Dhaka's Shyamoli area on Jan 24.

Rahima who worked as a maid went to Jordan three years ago and helped a Bangladesh national get out of jail with her own money.

Her younger sister Nazma Sultana told the bdnews24.com while in Jordan her sister gets involved with Monirujjaman aka ‘Azad’ from Rajbari.

“Azad had been detained for staying illegally in Jordan. At that time Rahima spent Tk 300,000 to bail him out. Azad could not pay back the money then. Later Azad came to Bangladesh and asked Rahima to take the money here.”

Nazma said last Saturday around 12pm Rahima reached Dhaka and talked to her family over cellphone.

“She (Rahima) talked to ‘Azad’ and he told Rahima that he will pay the money in the airport and then help her board the bus to go home to Jessore.

“After a while she called back saying Azad did not come and has sent a friend. That friend took Rahima to Shyamoli saying he will help her go home.

Rahima’s cellphone was turned off after this conversation at around 3pm.

Rahima was carrying 6 to 7 ‘bhori’ (1 bhori = 16.66 grams) gold and Tk 400,000 to 500,000, her relatives claims.
