The Milad Mahfil was held at the Brick Lane mosque in East London on Tuesday, the day Coco was buried in Dhaka.

Tarique, who has been living in the UK for seven years, had earlier visited the mosque in the East London area dominated by Jamaat-e-Islami supporters, but it was the first time he went to the Brick Lane mosque.

The BNP senior vice-chairman addressed the people attending the prayer.

Bangladesh's High Court has banned media coverage of his speeches and statements as long as he remains a fugitive from justice.

Coco, the son of Khaleda and BNP founder Gen Ziaur Rahman, died of heart failure last Saturday in Malaysia.

Coco, along with his wife and two daughters, had been staying at a rented house in Kuala Lumpur with a six-year jail term on his head for smuggling millions of taka out of the country.

Tarique earlier attended a Gayebana Janaza for him in London last Sunday.
